MILESTONES:

a creative way to explore  significant life events.

WILD CLAY BEAD-MAKING WORKSHOPS: Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th APRIL 2026
Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH6 4EW
A two-day workshop to support you through challenging life transitions and milestones. These could be graduation, parenthood, retirement, age milestones, new career,
  • Recognise and learn from past experiences to transform your future
  • Identify and celebrate your strengths
  • Redefine your identity as you reach life’s significant milestones
You will be invited to make individual clay beads that represent important events, significant people, and your valuable strengths. Threaded together, you will be supported to create a unique timeline, promoting your understanding of the grand design of your life. You will return home from the weekend with a fired, wild clay necklace representing your life and insights.

"Your life experiences are like beads on a string ... some beads shine joyfully, while others are dark and heavy"

The workshop is centred around the Hengistbury Iron Age roundhouse. You will use locally sourced wild clay and traditional clay-making and firing methods. Connect with the ancient timelines of this special environment, which has seen over 12,000 years of people observing their milestones.
We will offer you the opportunity to reflect on your lives so far and their significant milestones over the course of two days.

Using natural art materials and clay sourced from Hengistbury Head, we will offer a safe space to think and share about these events and your learning from them. This will include celebrating your strengths, skills and lessons for the future.
We will do this through guided walks, group art making and sharing. Firing the beads in a pit fire on site will draw upon the transformative power of the landscape.

Please bring a packed lunch for each day, there is also a cafe nearby.
